Desperate Wives Seek Porn Addiction Help

Porn addiction has become a common cause for many marital problems. From a marriage counseling forum, one woman sounds so desperate to find help in dealing with  her husband’s porn habit:

He’s been hiding this from me for over 3 years. How stupid am I? Why didn’t I see it. I’m completely losing my mind.

And consider this frightening fact:

At a 2003 meeting of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, two thirds of the 350 divorce lawyers who attended said the Internet played a significant role in the divorces in the past year, with excessive interest in online porn contributing to more than half such cases. Pornography had an almost non-existent role in divorce just seven or eight years ago.

I visit many forums where both men and women are coming for relationship advice and most of these are filled with queries about problems with pornography. Usually from women, wives and girlfriends are left feeling insulted, inadequate, disgraced and betrayed by boyfriends and husbands. For some, the anger is too much to overcome.

It’s important to recognize that the problem is not with you. Your boyfriend or spouse is not turning to pornography because of dissatisfaction with your relationship but because of a deeper problem. And more than likely, he recognizes that he has a problem with porn that is effecting his quality of life.  Remember, he chose to be with you, he loves you. His promises to try to overcome the porn addiction are genuine. When he submits and looks at porn again, it is not about you. It is an addiction – recognized and treated by mental health professionals.

Getting help for pornography addiction can be hard. Admitting to a stranger that you have a problem with pornography, talking about it, paying for expensive therapy . . . So most porn addicts go untreated.

Having recognized the problems people have in seeking out treatment for porn addiction, it was obvious to me that a discrete solution for helping people to stop their porn addiction is really needed. My @ddiction Way Out program will allow porn addicts and the people that want to help them get cured, enter a recovery and compliance program in the comfort and privacy of their own home. Advanced technology tools for enforcing rules about acceptable online behavior are included in the program, making it the first online recovery program with enforcement built in.
